Manfisa-Manufacturas Irular,
with its extensive experience in the sector of aluminium as a deoxidizer
for steel, is able to supply materials for this purpose in various formats
and chemical compositions.
Manfisa-Manufacturas
Irular applies its knowledge on this subject to achieve the objective
of any foundry, which is to improve the production rate at a lower cost
and with better percentages.
To improve production and steel quality, modern metallurgy is based
on refining and dressing outside the furnace, principally in the ladle.
Only the melting or the decarbonization take place in the furnace. The
refining operations such as deoxidising, desulphurising, and the adding
of alloy elements are performed in the ladle.
The principal metallurgic objectives in the ladle treatment are:
- To refine in order to obtain clean steel with little oxygen and sulphur.
- To modify the nature of the inclusion by injecting calcium.
- To add alloy elements in the precise amount for the chemical composition
of the steel.
It is now possible when killing steel with aluminium, to produce clean
steel by first lowering the oxygen and sulphur content through the ladle
filling treatment. The steel is subsequently treated with calcium to
control the form of the inclusions, which is extremely important, both
for the steel process as well as for its behaviour in the final use.
